HUMAN MEMORY

1. I have a problem. I cannot remember the date I was married. As a result I always get into trouble with my wife.

2. She has a remarkable memory for dates, not just her own or our special dates but she can remember the dates of birth of all her children, the dates of their marriage, the birthdays of all 17 of my grandchildren and even of her sisters and brothers and late parents.

3. So I can rely on her and sign the birthday cards she passed on to me. Unfortunately she cannot remember much of what she read when studying medicine. So I used to coach her. Thus we complement each other.

4. God has endowed Man (and Woman) with the ability to remember. That is the basic difference between us and the animals.

5. But with age our memory fails on details. Some brilliant people can remember what they did on a particular day 10 - 15 years ago, remember every detail, including the words they had spoken and the people they met etc. I am not among these people. I remember some events in which I was involved but only vaguely.

6. If you ask me what did I do on 12th August 1982, or on any other day, I would not be able to tell you. Other people with the proverbial photographic memory can, but I cannot. I am quite certain if I ask the questioner what he did on any particular day in the times long past he probably cannot tell me either. But then in a court or Commission he or the judge or Commissioners have the right to question, I had only the right to answer.

7. This is very unsatisfactory. In a court of law, if you fail to remember every detail of what you did on a particular day 5, 10 or 15 years ago, then you must be lying, you must be hiding something. This possibility would be ominous - though it may not be ascertained with exactitude. But why bother about those niceties. Just conclude that a person who cannot remember is simply lying.

8. I am going to take a memory course. Should I have occasion to be investigated or summoned to face a trial, I would be able to remember the suit I wore any day in my life and where I was when wearing the particular suit on a particular day.

9. By the same token a person who had been sodomised must know the exact time of the day that it happened, the colour of the room and the size of the bed. If he fails to remember any of these things, then he must be lying.

10. Such is the law. So please try to memorise everything you do every day. Don't forget the details. It can be fatal for you.

dearest tun,

iam not sure your memory is that bad but iam sure your memory is very much better than me and many others. I remember reading one of your acticles that you love to read and can complete reading a book within a day. This is someting special.

when talking about court matters, judges should understand that we are human (whom include judges) and have limitations and cannot remember exactly what we have done in the past. I cannot remember what cloth iam wearing the same day last week!

selamat beristirehat dan berpuasa enam, tun

salam.

What Tun is saying in this 'multi-prong message' might be funny to many but the reality is that Anwar Abraham a.k.a The Drama King and his bunch of liars ... opps! lawyers are manipulating the laws of this land.

They have been very consistent in ridiculing the law with their crooked mind, where the end result would do justice to none.

Anwar Abraham's initial sodomy conviction was overturned due to such 'crooked reasons' termed technicalities.

The court re-affirmed loud and clear that he is infact a sodomite but that FACT has been tactfully swept under the carpet.

These soul-less group of power hungry creatures would not stop at anything until they could install the sodomite into high office.

We, Malaysians, must open our eyes wide to Anwar Abraham's drama and not be fooled by his antics.

He has proven 'beyond resonable doubt' (to borrow the bunch of liars often used term)that he is a first-class LIAR who managed to fool many Malaysians who thought Anwar was their God-sent saviour.

If Anwar had achieved anything post-Sept 16, it is the tittle as the Number One Liar of Malaysia.

For those of you who continue to trust that human being, May God Bless You and have mercy on your next-of-kin.

amin.

p/s Tun, don't worry about Anwar's spin to make u look like a liar for not being able to remember details of certain things which took place more than 20 years ago. (I suspect even FLIP-FLOP and the SIL are also contributing towards such attempts)

We know what matters, and WHAT doesn't to this country.

Selamat Hari Raya, Sir.

What are you trying to say here Tun? Macam ada something on je lepas raya ni, which will involve you?

Court manusia ni mana sama macam court Allah. Disini kita kena buktikan apa yg terjadi.

Apa apa pun, tak pernah terjadi dlm sejarah Malaysia, open house org kenamaan dicemari dgn rusuhan. Yes, I'm talking about Hindraf making sort of trouble at Pak Lah's open house at PWTC. Itu lah harganya klu semua nak diberi muka. Semua atas alasan demokrasi. Sampai nak berdemonstrasi pun dah tak kena tempat. Main pakai undang2 hutan je. Pak Lah ni lembek sangat. Pasal tu la semua nak pijak kepala. Cuba klu awal2 lagi dicantas kepala2 pembuat kacau tu. Kan senang. Ini bila dah menyusahkan org, baru nak buat sesuatu. Pak Lah, Pak Lah, cepat la kasi baton tu pada org lain. Jgn nanti hari2 asyik gaduh je di Malaysia ni, semua org tak boleh cari makan.

Dearest Dr M

Even the lawyers themselves refer to documents to refresh their memory. No one is expected to remember exact details of what happened everyday of their lives.

If your brain space is taken up with facts and figures, the space for analysis and processing will be ADVERSELY affected. Scientists are usually forgetful people.

My laptop will RUN at snail space if the C:drive's used space is near full capacity. Some programs cannot function efficiently.

Bottomline is - THEY have an agenda. Nothing to do with a person's ability to remember details to prove one's innocence.

For lawyers, technicalities is the name of the game.

Viva Tun Berdua,
Just in case.

MEMANG BENAR KATA-KATA TUN : MELAYU MUDAH LUPA

Selamat Hari Raya Tun and family.

For a person your age, your memory is actually remarkable.

This is my first write up, way off topic but wanting to be the first to respond, I sent in anyway. Ive been following your comments for some time and it seems that the more I read your comments, the more I come to admire and respect your brilliance and insightful thoughts. It certainly helps me understand issues better and deepens my scant political knowledge and I also appreciate the countless deeds you have done for this country. I realize that to become a PM one must certainly be highly credible plus possesses host of other distinguished traits which you have, but alas our current PM apparently doesn’t seem to have any. Sad but true. Our PM is a good person I believe, maybe a pious one too but mere good person is hardly inadequate to become PM. A good person can be a good leader of a family but certainly not to lead a country.

Like most, my support for the ruling government has deteriorated tremendously over the past five year, mainly due to many many factors. Tops is AAB indecisiveness, flip-flop decisions or worse no decisions. When big crucial matter arises why is it always his subordinates giving comments instead of himself taking charge. Where is he and What is he doing? Selalu cakap saya ada banyak kerja nak buat and so on but people see nothing come out of it. Now whenever he speaks, I just mute the sound because I don’t feel he has any substance to tell.

The Anwar factor: Never underestimate this “master of spin” factor. He still captures hearts of many with his robust and sublime oratory flair and he uses his repertoire skills much to his advantage. Emulating campaigning model to that of Obama’s US presidential campaign, DSAI crave to believe that he is comparable to charismatic Obama and I am just saddened that many are duped by his blank rhetorics and manipulations. Being a traditionalist, I am still clinging on to my late father’s words: “Orang yang pandai cakap selalunya tak pandai buat kerja”. While Obama may be on his way to the White House, I hope and pray that DSAI is a Permatang Pauh MP and stays just that. Period.

I also have apprehension of Najib as PM not because of his incapacity as a leader but more of the unpleasant rumors hallowing above his head. Rumours of his involvement in Altantuyas murder case are ubiquitous, and Najib somewhat did his denial part but his efforts seem too feeble and unconvincing. This lead the public to believe that the rumors are true. There is also widespread stories his “takut bini” and about his fiery wife actions and behavior akin to Yoko Ono's lady control over late Beatles’ John Lennon. I fear this rumors will persist and haunt his premiership and further dent UMNO and BNs image.

There are people suggesting that you should become a senior minister very much like Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore but I totally disagree to this idea because people will promptly suggest the PM whoever he is, is inept and incompetent, and his moves are dictated by you as the puppet master. Be wary Tun and not to be easily enticed by power.

Tun, you certainly will go down in Malaysia’s history as the best PM and I wonder when there will be a PM like you to lead the country. When the legendary P Ramlee died some 30 years plus ago, we’re still longing for his replacement, “Dimanakan ku cari ganti”.

And as for the worst PM, I think the answer is self-evident. Pak Lah, Please, please, pleaselah Pak Lah, the rakyat has spoken. It’s a real pity and out of anger and frustrations, far too many nasty words have been thrown out to Pak Lah and for Tun and readers sake I would’nt cite examples here but in short, people are just fed up and sick to the bone of our current PM. To layman like me it is clear that AAB must go ASAP, and if he still has some dignity in him, he will retire honorably the sooner the better for the survival of this country.

Tun, I wish you all the best and do keep on writing if you still have the will. Selamat Hari Raya and my best regards to you and your family and most of all, take care Tun.

I am missing you already.

Dear TUN,

as a student from the controversial UiTM, i felt really sad of our current racial situation. I as person am against racial sentiments, but from what i see here in UiTM, even the lecturers inject us with racial hatred by implicating the post-graduation problem of employment as we are all malays and that it's hard to compete in the corporate world that is dominated by the chinese. If those lecturers intentions are to motivate us to ensure competitiveness, but most of them failed as they only make the malays here harbor hate towards other races.

I can't imagine 13th may happening all over again as i do have chinese and indian friends and i appreciate being friends with them as i have been bored of the malays stereotyped character: pessimistic and envious of others while they have done nothing to earn what others have.

Please Tun, most of the people i know do dream of the Malaysian Malaysia. And we know you can make it happen. You're always able to pull of such miracle like the 1997 economic crisis. Perhaps you would pursue in becoming 'Bapa Keharmonian'.

To all people, let's just stop generalising and learn to appreciate this country. For ourselves, and for Tun!

Hope someone can lodge a report and lets investigate this and save them from commiting DOSA works ! it's sinful to do that ! No wonder unity is so hard to achieve ! if they found guilty, charge them under ISA to those so call lecturer ! Hisham, take action ! Please read and scare your heart out !

Tun,
Then, why not write your biography before they are completely erased from your memory?
You look healthy, albeit your cardio problem but that shouldn't affect your brain,it cannot be that you cannot remember all at the Lingam inquiry. Many have speculated that you had "played acting" at the Inquiry.I won't want to ask for an answer.
If one is going to face it the second time round,I am sure certain precautionary measures would have taken, unless one is that stupid,so that it beats the threshold of the law by making it difficult for the DPP to prove a prima facie case.My reading is that it would be thrown out before defence.
Let us know of your thoughts about the memory course after you attended it.
If it is good and the cost is reasonable,it's good idea to attend and perhaps a government ministry should sponsor so that many senior citizens may benefit from it.

asalamualaikum ayahanda dan bonda...
selamat hari raya..moga sihat sejahtera hendaknya..

Sometimes when we makan at any restaurant and it was time to pay we couldn't remember what we just ate...at least for a few seconds..or at least one dish..especially when we get older.....

but the again it would be so simple as to keep on blaming the failure of our faculty when we are actually hiding something....don't you think???

Through out my 28 years of living on this world, I have learned one thing very important, and that is we as human being, we memorize with our brain but we keep and cherish something with our heart. So if you want to memorize something for a very long time, don't memorize it with your brain but with your heart.

Salam Tun & fellow bloggers,
1.I failed to grasp your intention of bringing up the issue of memory power, unless you got BIG trouble with authority or something

2.In the court of law,you only run into trouble when you got 'selective amnesia' against evidence, affidavit, statutory declaration

3.Keeping a diary can do wonders. In the modern day we have umpteen type of gadget such as PDA,camera phone, ipod to help upkeep and organize teenie-weenie details

4.Since all computers are equipped with webcam, logging on to Facebook,Blogging,You Tube,Myspace could serve the purpose

5.With these kind of modern gadgets, who need to learn memory power?

Wassalam

Thats not true at all, admirable ex-PM of mine.

I am a law student myself, so I know enough of the law to say that that is not the law, that is not what the law intends to achieve in terms of evidence.

It is enough that you remember enough to go beyond reasonable doubt, there was never an intent on the framers of criminal law in any given jurisdiction to bother with the nitty gritty. I understand fully you predicament in how those 2 judges of the Federal Court have decided in the Anwar case last, and I share it. Those judges should never have given affect to law of criminal evidence the way they did, and they have pretty much screwed up the law so much that it would be impossible to convict any more sodomite in the country.

Selamat Hari Raya to you and your family.

Selamat Hari Raya Tun

Haha another good one from Tun.
However, my gut feeling tells me there is a ‘story’ behind this article. I believed it is only human that we forget but the question is, are we really forgetful or do we deliberately forget? If I may be so ignorant to say that we may tend to forget day, dates, months, years and time but not events. It may slip off our mind but our brains have the capability to recall such events that had happened previously in our life, briefly or otherwise. It is true when Tun said, “God has endowed Man (and Woman) with the ability to remember” but it’s not exactly correct when you said, “That is the basic difference between us and the animals”. Animals like elephants, cats, dogs etc do have the capability to remember as well. The phrase: “one has a memory of an elephant” rings the bell.

In reference to your para 8.
“I am going to take a memory course. Should I have occasion to be investigated or summoned to face a trial, I would be able to remember the suit I wore any day in my life and where I was when wearing the particular suit on a particular day.”

In jest, may I ask Tun..did Tun forget something you wore on a particular day besides the suit? It’s also very important to remember other details when answering in court. There’s every possibility the judge and the legal councils would also like to know the color of your underwear…perhaps? Haha Maaf Zahir & Batin.

Take care and may god protect my dear Tun always. God Bless.

Dear Tun,

Selamat Hari Raya maaf Zahir dan batin. When I saw your entry on memory, and how you always seems to forget important dates such as wedding anniversary and birthday, I almost choked on the tea that i was drinking when I was reading your entry. It's nice to see that you share the same problem that most men have... the convenience to forget important dates. LOL. We women definitely can remember dates pretty well...I don't know why men have such difficulties to do so. I believe that you're not the only one who gets into trouble with your wife for forgetting such dates, because my other half forgets important dates all the time too despite being in his early twenties. :-(

Actually, I do not know where your entry is heading until I read your no. 9, which is someone's inability to recall a certain trauma that he went through. I finally understood what you are trying to say. If someone was put through certain terror, he's most likely to remember the event very clearly, unless of course, he's lying or he's paid to lie. :-D

I have to pen down now, Tun, take care, God bless, and if God willing, I'll meet you in your open house this coming Sunday.

Yours truly,
Cleffairy

Most people can memorise very well about the good things that they have encountered, while many others can memorise very well the bad things which they have encountered. Naturally, very few people have the ability to remember everything very well in their life times.

Knowing the different patterns of human memory, there is no assurance that witnesses who are called to court would testify the truth. And it is indeed irony for the court to subpoena witnesses who have short memory to testify in courts.

And it would be more pointless for the court to reguire a witness who is ill-memoried to swear before his testimony that he would speak the truth but nothing except the truth.

God The Almighty is great for He created everything, including the human race. Knowing very well the behaviour of human being which He created, God presiding the Divine Court in the next world do not believe anymore in the mouth to tell the truth, but the ears, eyes, hands and legs would speak the truth.

In this worldly courts, and knowing that human has short memory, whether as prosecution or defence witnesses, it is definite if we are in a position to fix the judges !

Dear Tun,

Selamat Hari Raya to you and your beloved wife, Tun Hasmah.

Great to hear from you Tun on 2nd day of Hari Raya.

Hmm..... I am trying to figure out what Tun meant on this article. I am very sure Tun as always trying to tell us something. This is not just a plain Human Memory article, is it Tun? I know there are more to it.

Well I guess with all the ketupat and the curry daging have slowed me down a bit.

Anyway, it looks like I am the first.

Tun

How was your Hari Raya ? I think it must good especially meeting up with all your beloved ones , just like me , a chinese always appreciate the spirits of Chinese New Year where in that particular day , all the family members meet together.

About this memory issue, I do agree with you on certain issues but not what you mention about issues relating to evidence in court.

I am a lawyer by profession. With greatest respect to Tun, People like your standard should have written records on what you are doing at that time and even if you don't , you have assistants to assist you especilally on important matters.

I always record down what I do in case I lost memory of it, and I always tell my staffs to put on record on who they talk to and about what so that nobody can point figures at each other.

If Tun is hinting on the possible issues regarding the sacking of judges, yes Tun may forgot what was said at that time but then surely there are records on it. Now , the issue is where are this record (if any) , and this exactly what the court are looking, not primarily on oral evidence itself. The best evidence is document evidence , and in legal terms we called it as "real evidence".

Can you sack a judge simply by telling him that you are now sacked without any record as the reason why the judge was sacked ?

On sodomy cases, especially with the present sophiscated gadgets, it not difficult to obtain real evidence, but then the victim or the criminal surely must know the exeact location and also the inside of the secene itself. Just like an artist who paint a picture of a live human being or a specific place , he must have the exact visual in order to make out his painting.

This is my personal professional view and I maybe wrong in certain things but I do hope my contribution herein can render some assistance to Tun in a way that a person may not neccesary have to attend a memory course where you have to pay for it. Just adopt the simple way ie just try to pen down whatever important thing that you do , and for double protection , if you have a computer now just input the record therein.

As a Malaysian, what worries me now is how our country will face the on coming financial turmoil ?

All politicians should sit down and use their head together to overcome this financial turmoil.

Thank you and have a nice day , Tun.

Dear Tun,

I thought you would be taking a break during this Hari Raya or preparing for the open house.

I cannot read your mind, but I am sure you are trying to say something. Anyway, some people have very good memory. Some of my friends who are into business and have made it good have very good memory for dates, numbers and faces. I have a friend who sometimes play golf with me. He could remember the many types of wager that he plays against us. At the end of the 18 holes, he would know how much he made or lost to each one of us. Poor me, I had to refer to my score card!

Artists have very good memory for details. Lat is one of them. I bet he would still know the details of his home town of Batu Gajah.

I am surprised that you said you have poor memory. Doctors have good memory for they need to remember the medicines that they are to prescribe for each sickness.

By Adym on October 2, 2008 5:13 PM
salam,
Very deep meaning this time.
1)Sometimes person like Dr.Siti Hasmah care about sentimental values and repeating doing so yearly.
2)Thus, she bare in mind of all special occasions, makes her remember most birth dates and your anniversary.
3) Person who talks lie are unable to remember on what said n done.
4) Person as busy as you and many occasion attended and nothing attracted u, make u forget things easily.
5) Person who had been sodomised surely remember every details futhermore repeatedly..
6) Same goes to person have been raped, they are in trauma!!!
7) Same goes to my accident with merc road gangster year 2005 kl-seremban hgway, i still can remember the car plate number.

Thanks for reminder Tun Dr.mahathir muhammad.
To everybody, try to train your brain every second 'to think' at least play Sudoku.

The jurisdiction of our laws does work in that system. Unless in the mere future one can able to use hypnotic and have the technology to abstract out the photographic of the incident and transform it out in picture. Then one is always suppress to the mercy of the Juries and Judges in playing to the justice of the crime.

Because of this criminal get off always or at times being innocently sentenced and convicted.

At either vice versa the memory of the goodness or evil that reside in the mind will always be the Judge and will thereof face judgment when the times come. This one there will be no escape compare to our intelligent. As HIS ways are HIGHER than our…….

The crime will be JUST by itself when the end near!

Tun,

Your memory is as good as people in their twenties. I have heard stories of your outstanding attention to details and remembering the reasons behind the details.

But, what you mentioned in your article is also right. Most of the time in court, the lawyers will do their best to solicit answers to minute details and attack you if the answers are contradictory. May be the best answer would be not to answer to minute detail.

Salam Aidil Fitri.

Assalamualaikum Tun,

Tetapi saya diberi kelebihan sikit mengingati nombor.

SELAMAT HARI RAYA TUN. SEMOGA TUN SENTIASA DIKURNIA KESIHATAN YANG BAIK. AMIN!

Dear Dr M,
First of all, please allow me to wish you and your family "Selamat HariRaya".
I don't know whether after reading the above posting made me laugh or cry. You see, my beloved late husband used to be just like you -and more often than not forgets our wedding anniversary or my birthdays. So I said to him, at least I am "historical but not hysterical". The only thing that I am hopeless at remembering is to re-enact an argument and I ended up saying things in a different context but same meaning... you know what I mean. But that spell trouble isn't it. The topic of argument thus become pointless as everyone involved said they didnt say "this" or "that" :)
Having said that, what did you say last year today?????

By leading on October 2, 2008 5:31 PM
Tun,

We must be given a choice for either "Remember to forget" or "Forget to remember".

In particular, it is simply not fair to punish someone who can not recall 100% of a police report made after a while.

Ummmmm.....I forgot what to say.Ohhh yes..Now I remember!

Wishing you and family SELAMAT HARIRAYA AIDILFITR.May Allah bless you and family with good health always.InsyaAllah.

I have the same problem too.Maybe what is important to others may not be so important to us.Thats why our memory failed to write this minute details and store in our hard drive(mind).Like a computer hard drive, our memory power slows down as it ages.Just like a computer.

Maybe someday, humans will find a way to upgrade the mind to a better processor or memory chip just like upgrading a computer hardware.Only then we can boost our memory performances.

Does this mean that I have to remember to remember.....ohhh God!I forgot again.

Wassalam...

Salam Dear Tun and Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Fitri to you and the family.

I think this piece was written in response to Zaharan Razak's ""I" of the Storm: Dr Mahathir's Last Hooray?" (http://zveloyak.blogspot.com/2008/04/dr-mahathirs-last-hurrah.html) in which a blogger, in his comment on the piece - conveniently accused you for having selective amnesia with regards to the VK Lingam's case.

Anyhow, well said, Tun! We should all take a memory course. Another course maybe worth taking would be on how to avoid a Freudian slip so that 'tak tersasul kata' (our friends in the Pakatan Rakyat should be the first ones to enroll for this course, in my humblest opinion).

I pray for your good health and of Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah's also.

Selamat Hari Raya, Mohon Maaf Lahir dan Batin.

Kita semua setuju that god tak minta kita untuk record the chronologies of our life untuk hari pembalasan nanti. sebab itu nabi nasihat kat kita supaya dont tell lies because satu sen pun tak benefited to us. so islam percaya kepada hari pembalasan itu, and we know that we will be judge accordingly.

different between human and animals ...human can play gods. we created the human laws. the accused can ask for 4 witnesses, and can choose his own god. i wonder if you ask your wife for evidence bout the dates. maybe she will started to remember the date which u wish not to remember. and maybe thers more wish for her ...

my wife even can remember the fisrt word i spoke to her....and i dont know how to respond ....so i just borrow your smile (without permission...sorry)

Tun,

At this juncture, whatever one wants to believe, or not believe, there will still be varied different opinion. We who believe in you, are people who wants to look to the good. Those who don't, you know why.

As had been said many times, million times, etc. if we want to argue - no matter why, there will be reasons to argue. Facts are facts, and truths will be truths. Our conscience determines and only Allah knows.

I am just grateful, you are what you are.

God bless!

Salam Tok Det & bloggers,

The best and efficient to train memory is by reciting Al-Quran and looking at Kaabah regularly. Somebody had told me before and I don't remember who, but I did it and it works! It's God's miracle, can't never explain it.

And Quran recitor never do bad thing to people like calling people names, talking bad things, beating up people, accused people or whatever bad it is.

It's better not to talk/speak if the words do not benefit anybody in this world or in the HereAfter.

p/s: To all, as I always said, whatever we do, HE is watching us. You can never imagine HIS punishment.

By Anak My on October 2, 2008 6:26 PM
Tun,

You do not need to bother too much about the laws because you are going to face the eternal judgment conducted by the Almighty God very soon. He will recall all your memories. If you have not done anything wrong, why bother.

Tun,

What's the matter with Tun now? Many Malaysians, including the non-Malays, are still in Hari Raya mood but Tun already starts to talk about Sodomy on the second day of Hari Raya!

Tun might not be able to remember everything which happened in the past but I just hope that Tun can recall the events of 1998 and answer the following questions of mine:
1) Why did you force the former owner of Magnum Corporation and Multi-purpose Bank, Mr. Lim Thian Kiat, to sell off his shareholdings in these two groups of companies?
2) Wasn't it because you suspected that Lim Thian Kiat was the crony of Anwar who hired Dato Nara Karuppan to go lobby Anwar for license approval when Anwar was still the Finance Minister in your 1997/1998 cabinet?
3) Could you swear on al-Quran that you were not aware of any womanizing deal which happened in Tivoli Apartment with Dato Nara Karuppan serving as the middle man? Could you swear also that you were not aware that the Police had twisted and turned the womannizing deal into a sodomy deal based on either your implied hint or your straight-forward and open suggestion or on any possible misunderstanding about your saying in 1998 by the Police officer who reported his investigation on Anwar to you in your capacity as the Prime Minister?

Anyway, I am glad that Tun can still remember your old acquiantance Anwar, even though Tun might not remember that Tun did allow Tan Sri Rahim Noor to send me to ISA detention camp in 1998. Anyway, I should be thankful to Tun since the ISA detention changed me spiritually and turned me to strongly believe in God. I always remember Tun, especially during Hari Raya Aidilfitri when "Maaf Zahir Batin" is the message sent by God to all.

Here are the further messages which I wish to share with Tun with holy purposes:

Mengingati TEMAN tanda persahabatan.
Mengingati MATI sumber kekuatan IMAN.
Mengingati AKHIRAT semulia-mulia INGATAN.

Dear Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad,

Thank you for posting in Syawal.

This is indeed an interesting topic.

I have a friend who always forget his keys. You can imagine his predicament. Such as, standing near his car after a Friday prayer, and near the masjid, with cars not moving since his is blocking, and the car key he forgot, is at the tempat wuduk. To walk back, is about "20 miles hour away!"

I told him, the next time and the next, he shall proclaim, "Kat ateh meja makan ropanya aku letak konci kereta", He is allowed to sound like a leader proclaiming "Merdeka!" Then do what ever is necessary, when done, "Mana aku letak konci kereta tadi?"

So, I agree with you, when you wrote: So please try to memorise everything you do every day. Don't forget the details. It can be fatal for you.

By Eddie on October 2, 2008 7:01 PM
Human's memory is fallible.

Sometimes, we think that we know something well and we insist on it but in fact it is just a false impression. There is a trap in our mind.

As said by Edward de Bono: Perception is real even though it is not reality.

Can we trust our memory?

No, unless we record all the details we encounter in life in words so that no error will occur. This is plain nonsense because our time is too precious for doing this kind of thing.

Great post.

Assalamualaikum Tun,
By any standard your memory is well above average! For sure, yours is better than mine. Many people I have spoken to have said you remember a lot about history and were able to recollect a lot about what happened in the past and not just about Malaysia. I believe what is important is to remember things that are relevant to the survival of our country. On this I rate you A. I have been wanting to write in your blog for quite some time. Now that I happen to be in front of my laptop and reading your latest blog, I better say something.

When you and your predecessors (except Tunku Abdul Rahman) were Prime Ministers this country was run pretty well. A lot of progress and development were made especially under your tenure. I have been your fan ever since I was a student and have benefited a lot from your tenure. However, when Pak Lah became prime minister, things have not been going well and a lot of people are very disappointed with him. You are definitely one of them. My concern is HOW DO WE ENSURE A GOOD SUCCESSION of leadership prevails in our beloved country.

Is our present system of choosing a leader and ensuring that he is the best candidate good enough? I tend to make comparison between how we choose a leader in Malaysia vs. how USA chooses their leader. Can we change or improve our system of choosing a leader (prime minister)? I believe we need to change the system to ensure that there is NOT another Pak Lah (or his equivalence) after this. Else, we would end up in another mess. The next time it happens you might not be around to write in this blog! I believe for someone to be a Prime Minister he should be tested thoroughly and be exposed to the public such that we (especially the voters) know that he is capable of leading us into the future. I noticed Pak Lah is WEAK in many areas such as communication, ability to comprehend current situations and answering questions. There are many other weaknesses I heard from others. These weaknesses would have been exposed if he were to take part in a debate with say Tengku Razaleigh! I believe something MUST be done to AVOID ANOTHER PAK LAH! Appreciate your comments and ideas on this issue please.

Salam Aidil Fitri buat Tun sekeluarga.

"In a court of law, if you fail to remember every detail of what you did on a particular day 5, 10 or 15 years ago, then you must be lying, you must be hiding something."

Selamat hari raya aidil fitri. Maaf zahir bathin.

Salam Tun, Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Fitri dan Maaf Zahir Batin,
1)It is rather ridiculous to remember everything in life, normal human just can't remember what shirts there were wearing last 15 days ago. But it is true when in court you can't remember something then people will associate it with lying.
2)Tun, in case of UMNO, the movement is in trouble now and not relevant to youngsters now since the power play from the branch, division, state and to the top management is very dirty.
Please do something.

Assalamualaikum & Selamat Hari Raya Maaf Zahir Batin Ayahanda Tun & Keluarga,

Saya percaya rakyat Malaysia belum bersedia mempunyai seorang PM yg sebegini.

Selamat Aidil Fitri Tun,

I used to remember things and event very well when i was young till mid-age around 42years, maybe i was trained as a medical assistant which a lot of brain tuning and memory to force into my small brain. Now i am 55 years there are so many things i forgot totally and at many a time yesterday happenings seems so hard to recall exactly, my wife and friends says i am old. I say "Hey, Tun Mahathir is same age as my mom and he give speeches, real good speeches locally or internationally alike without notes, straight from the mouth and facts are always correct...how?"
Tun you are one person in my life that i think have memory like what the saying,"memory of an elephant".
Stay strong Tun
Cheers!

Salam Tun,

Salam Tun,

This is the beauty of our law,and the wisdom of our learned Judge,no one can comment on them because you may be charge for contempt of court.Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy case with Azizan is a classic example,Anwar was accquited due to Azizan's failure to remember the exact date and time of the incident.

The great Bar Council Chairman and its committe will never dare to comment on this sort of cases, they will shout and shout when dealing with racial issues and Islam.

Tun,
why do I get the feeling that this post has a hidden message to it?

Especially paragraph 9. You're trying to say something, aren't you, Tun?

Or maybe you're not. Maybe I'm being too suspicious. My memory's quite bad too I don't even remember my sisters' birthdays or even my parent's age, but strangely I remember vividly what some people who pass by me, strangers or even relatives and friends, what they wore on the last time I saw them. I remember this woman walking past me about many months ago in Mid Valley wearing this particular black dress with geometric prints on it. Then I bumped into the same woman again just during my last visit to Malaysia which was on Ramadhan this year. She wore the same dress, she had the same blonde hair. The human nature is funny, no?

Tun, how was your raya celebration? Our's is always dull. Betul kata orang, hujan emas di negeri orang, hujan batu di negeri sendiri.

Bak kata orang, di mana bumi dipijak, di situ langit dijunjung. Tapi masalahnya, saya tak mau junjung langit Brunei. Raya expired. Hari Khamis baru raya. Pelik.

Assalamualaikum Ayahanda Tun n Bonda,

guess i hv the same problem as you do! n may b worse!! i'm very weak at remembering dates n details of occasions. of course i remember the birthdays of my family members but in case of details on other dates n events i cant guarantee anything...let alone to remember the colours of clothes or names of people i rarely meet. my weakest point is number plate..i cant remember even after a short term encounter! so if i were to become a witness to give evidence in court i would face a lot of trouble , i say....

certain people keep a diary n write down every detail they experience on that day. it's a good step but how many of us keep track of what we do every day? i'm not keen in keeping a journal or writing in a diary so if things happen, i cant recount much...which makes me a bad witness...
Wassalam
Happy Eid, still...

Good day Tun,

First of all Selamat Hari Raya to you and your family. I can catch your point in this article. I am 38 but I have also problem remembering the dates but again I complement with my wife. They sure have powerful memories on the dates. Even though we may not remember our day to day activity, but I believe that each decision that we make which sometimes contraditory to our principle or for other people satisfaction will stay on our mind forever. We can remember that for the rest of our lives.

Menjawab tentang pasai apa Tok Mah ingat tarikh-tarikh penting...

Cuba tok det pulak berleter, kita tengok jadi lagu mana? Hahahaha melawak saja nooo

Being sacarstic in comments cannot be helpful to anybody and creates a bad impression on the blogger himself. It is virtually impossible for any human being to remember everything especially trivial things mentioned by you.The issue is the relatively important things (therefore touched upon by the courts)are the ones at issue and to claim ignorance appears questionable. We all remember important things worth remembering!

Certain people never seem to learn from the past (maybe because of memory problem too) and up repeating the same transgressions.

I think there's a saying that history will repeat itself from those who don't learn from it.

asalamuailkum Tun, Selamat Hari Raya..
Makanan Anjing? Dok lokap.. nama pun lokap, bukan hotel. Siapa peguam yang akan membantu mereka? Zaid and Co ke? Di mana 'Justice For All'? Di mana 'Hak Asasi'? Zaid tu dah kaya, Kapral Singh and his Children juga kaya, mereka sudah tidak heran dengan duit, la depa cari nama. Adakah 'Lord President' tu malaikat, tiada dosa? Nak buat macamana, ia adalah sistem, we have to live with it.. apa-apa pun Tun, Saya bimbang nasib bangsa.. Bahaya, for the sake of the country, please stop it..

Sir,
You know that's the reality of how lawyers would crucify someone for being unable to recall details of events that occurred a long time ago. Then they use that memory failure by the accused to condemn he/she. People have condemned you for being unable to recall details of certain events that you were allegedly involved in. They say you can remember numerous things past but not particular stuff connected to certain issues. So you must be lying. That perception is already ingrained in the minds of people at large. They believe you must be not telling the whole truth. I am at a loss what to say about it but I believe you are being simply honest. Everyone must take this at face value and give you the benefit of the doubt. You did the nation proud and that's what matters most. Not like DSAAB!
I'm amazed at your revelation of Tun Siti's sharp memory. I mean I'm amazed at her mental prowess. For an elderly person, she's truly super human. I bet she'll put many a youngster to shame.
I can't wait to see you and Tun Siti soon at your open house.

the judiciary system in our country is corrupted & cannot be trusted anymore..
even if you're at the right side..
you will lose if you're going against the goverment..
just like my late father's case, rizal boss abdullah (now allahyarham) versus penang port comission & the goverment..
he lost the case after a long 22 years fight..

my pity goes to my mother whose now has to continue fight on behalf of my late father..
& i believe the goverment can't help us either..
there is no justice in our judiciary system..

dear tun, it's true that a reasonable man cannot remember much the particular date 10 or 15 years ago but in my opinion, if someone forgot the date when he had being sodomized a few months ago is totally 'another story'. anyway, keep on writing tun. malaysia still need your idea.

By Naz Yusof on October 2, 2008 9:56 PM
Assalamualaikum Tun,

Your writing has never fail to enlighten me. It is true that we should have good memory. But to remember every single details of our life could be impossible. The fact that it could be use as a weapon to acuse us as lying (for not remembering) is simply mind blowing....

I just hope that i will not be caught in that situation...if not I should start carrying a video camera around to record every second of my life....that would be interesting...wouldn't it?

If people start to accuse me doing (or asking questions) of things that I have no memory of, I could just search the time and date of the event in my recordings and find out what was i doing at the time..... :)

Reading your blog make me realised how easy we are manupulated by the people 'up there' just so that we only see and hear what they want us to believe.

Thank you Tun for opening the other side of the story.

Good evening Sir, i think you are trying to relate to the current case that involves our "possible" future prime minister. As a fact, i'm not a lawyer nor have i ever taken any course in university that relates to law in particular.

That said, though i have not read any reports on the Anwar case, i do think that in any court involving any case, the question that is asked by the lawyers havd to have a certain degree of relevancy. If the situation is just like you implied, then there would not be any successful prosecution of any criminal. In my opinion, if i were the judge of the sodomy case, i would dismiss questions that are of no relevance to the case. But of course there is a certain limit and also a standard as to what kind of questions that are irrelevant. For example, the colour of the room where the act took place, it is relevant as the victim is very unlikely to have forget that. What clothes the accused was wearing is also relevant as the victim should be able to see those. But if the defence ask questions like what kind of flower was in the corner of the room when the act took place, or what colour was the knob of the drawer that is in the room, or what if the drawers were opened or closed during the act...such questions are irrelevant, and in my eyes are just questions that want to say that the victim could not remember the detail and in your words, lying. And if the truth is that a victim is expected to remember ALL details of a particular crime, then i'm close to 99% sure that for all cases in the future, the accused will be freed. All i had to do was to ask as many questions as i can to the victim, and when he/she cant remember, then my criminal is freed.

Dear Tun,

Its quite difficult to comprehend the motive of your article this time, Tun. But going by the last sentence I am inclined to ask - Is the legal system really that rigid?

But I would like to add that perhaps we can relook the legal system we have right now. It is the BEST dispenser of Justice? Is the adversorial approach the best model to ensure Justice is done and be seen to be done.

What other models can we have to ensure this? Lets get down to basics. At the end of the day the real goal is to get to the truth of the matter. But the truth is that TRUTH is relative - it depends on the perspective of the beholder. Except for material things anything else is subject to preceptions.

What is truth to one person may be a lie to another. For example to Hindraf ISD is bad, especially when one of theirs is a victim of which. But to most people in the street, it is good if it ensures public safety and security for them to go about their normal lives.

So how does a Judge or Panel of Judges ensure he/they dispense justice when he/they make a judgement? Obviously he will need to weigh all factors including public perceptions and effect on public order. After all thats what they are suppose to do - keep public order thru ensuring law and order. So which come first Public order or law and order?

The former is the top concern for people in public office - including the Judges. Law and order cannot be onto its self - it must serve a higher purpose of public order.

Will it serve the judges better if we go away from the adversorial model to one where the parties work incollaboration to get to the truth and to lay down all the perspectives and factors to come to a really just outcome to serve the public good.

Just my 2 sen worth.

Tun kami rindukan Tun .
Tun kami rindukan sentuhan Tun.

Dear Tun, It is sign of old age.We can remember thing happened 40 years ago but not a year ago as our computer is getting rod. In case of sodomised it is impossible to remember all because at that time the syaitan have covered their eyes.

HAPPY HARI RAYA

Selamat Hari Raya Tun

I'm not sure where you are heading with this posting. A normal man or woman who is asked to testify on a court of law is usually asked to do so on incidents that are momentous in their life.

Therefore they in general will be able to recall the important aspects of the incident. This important aspects are what i believe lawyers call as "material events"

If the event is not material to the case, then a memory lapse will not be fatal. The examples you gave that a person who was sodomized must remember the colour of the room and the size of the bed would not usually be material and therefore not fatal to the case in hand.

However if a person is being accused of corruption of awarding a very, very large contract to a businessman. This person then met that businessman for dinner in an exclusive restaurant in a neighboring country a couple of days before the award. If this person were asked what the meeting was about in a court of law and the answer given was,"I can't recollect" then it is possible that this person accused of corruption will be looked upon suspiciously by the court.

This is my humble opinion and Tun with your great wisdom might be able to find a lot of flaws in it.

Tun, Selamat Hari Raya but I beg you give a new hope to Malaysia....do not destroy it....you have earned what you want today....billions of USD, RESPECT....so as your son!!

I am a simple chinese guy who make living through hard work and I am a grassroot member of MCA.
I have been monitoring the way you managed the country.....typically.....you are no different with those giant dictators, corruptors & hypocrite!!

The wealth that you and your members have made through NEP has enriched many of those who direct and indirectly closer to you!! The sin you commited will be reverted back to you and your family......Please goes to Kelantan, Trengganu, Pahang, Sabah, Sarawak with your conscience to see how the poorer living condition.....the fortune you made can salvage the entire poor Malays....instead what you did...seeing you son driving millions of sport car in Sepang really make me shame....when my foreign friend asks who is this guy and how he make fortune......I was shame and hypocrite too....I told him your son is a one of the SUPER INTELLIGENT BUSINESS people in this planet....my friend will check this iin Forbes....because we bet for a good dinner

By DrTECheah on October 2, 2008 10:58 PM
Although I agree as it is close to impossible to remember every detail in your life. Age certainly does not help the process of retaining information either.

However, a traumatic event like sodomy is rarely forgotten by the victim unless of course he has had many sexual partners in the past. Being sodomised is hardly something that one would forget easily. Unless the event has been so traumatic that he decides to blank out the events.

Many would agree that things do not add up in the sodomy allegations. I will not elaborate further.

Salam Tun,
First of All, Selamat Hrri Raya Aidil Fitri, Maaf Zahir & Batin. May ALLAH bless you. I just wanted to know one important matter, whether Anwar Ibrahim is really "Suka Main Belakang Orang" ?

Wassalam

Firstly, SELAMAT HARIRAYA IDILFITRI,maaf zahir batin. Your subject on human memory seems to relate to the Saiful sodomy case. You try to warn him and the team to be prepared for the twist and turn of defence lawyers. Thats how they survive in the world of justice. But God knows whose right. The court may prove vice versa but you can't escape God punishment afterdeath. If you are wrong but proved right then you will be in Hell though worldly you are innocent. Dr M, do believe in God's will. Accept whatever verdict the court decides. Kadzo dan Qadar, then you'll sleep tight. Simple advice.

LOL!

Good one, Ayahnda Tun! :D

This "advice" is lovely Hari Raya gift. I'm still smiling and giggling as I type this.

Thank you!

Assalamualaikum
Happy Eid Mubarak Tun,
First thing first Tun, Don't forget your wedding date (kata kawan saya Tun, kalau terasa Handphone Tun nak terbelah dua, cuba2 lah.. hahaha).
BTW, I met you once in Malaysian Hall, London back in 2002 (If I not mistaken, still forget to remember the year). Anyway, I still keep the picture of yours & your wife with my baby and my wife. Reading today story make me smiling. You're right Tun, I am 32 years old and have 4 kids. Sometimes I could not even all my kids birtday. Except my wedding date 010101.
Talking about memory, I know that blind people have a good memory just base on the peole voice. I heard professor Dr Ismail story from friend on him where they met again after more than 20 years in the airport. This guy just say Ismail name, and he straightaway recall this guy name. Blind people surely have a very good memory kalau nak compare ngan kita yg cukup sifat.
Daya ingat otak kiri bersifat jangka pendek (short term memory). Sah2 le perempuan nie byk pakai otak kanan bebanding kita lelaki yg suk pakai otak kiri. Tu belum cerita otak depan otak belakang lagi.
Apa pun, saya pernah ler terbaca article, kalau terselisih dengan kawan lama dan kita lupa nama dia. pakai le otak belakang. saya yg sudah lebih 15 tahun meninggalkan sekolah menengah mmg tak menafikanler kalau jumpa kawan, sure saya boleh recall nama dia.
Tun bile nak tulis pasal pembelaan utk golongan macam saya nie, bapa mertua saya bukan nye mcm bapak mertua KJ. dan saya tak minat politik, tapi minat berniaga. Tapi hutang masih byk (hutang belajar). Ekonomi makin teruk. Dapat untung buat project kecil2 pun kalau share kawan2, dapat le selesaikan hutang sikit2. Saya rasa gaji saya yg belom jejak 3K (fresh graduate Tun) nie mcm tak sesuai duduk di Malaysia. Nak beli kereta baru apa tah lagi. I am spending money than I can save. Nak ambil life insurance pun belum tentu mampu bayar. camne Tun.
Note: Apa menu Tun open House agaknya? teringin nak pergi, nak tgk Tun yang beza 3 tahun kot ngan bapa saya.

Salam Dear Tun,
Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Fitri to you, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah and the family.

I'm of the opinion that if we want to remember something so badly, we should make an effort for it. Dates for instance. We use computers, PDAs, smart phones and Blackberrys for that matter. Or we can use the good old diary and planners. I understand that keying-in the details can be a pain sometimes. So Tun Dr Siti does the memory work on dates so that you can focus on remembering other important things.

I remember reading the judgement of the Federal Court on Anwar Ibrahim in 2004 and wish to share with the visitors of your esteemed blog, with your consent, the following statement :

"Forgetfulness and failure to recall exactly certain events, which did not seem to be important to the witness, do not necessarily shake his credibility or render other parts of his story unworthy of belief. Various persons are endowed with varying powers of cognition, attentiveness and perception, so that it is not uncommon for two witnesses to a common event to describe it in slightly differing versions.”

So, it's okay to forget the nitty-gritty details, I gather. It's not that you're lying. It's just that you don't remember. With due respect, I don't think even the Bench has the "proverbial photographic memory".

On a different subject, would you enlighten us about the ISA and in what situation can it be applied?

I wish you and Tun Dr Siti Hasmah the best of health.

By mekyam on October 2, 2008 11:51 PM
Actually Ayahnda, some particular power-hungry and self-serving Malaysian "leaders" -- many of whom are years younger than you -- not just "mudah lupa" but they also "mudah lupa daratan"!

Many of their fans don't realize that these pretenders lead people on more than they lead.

P.S. Would like to salute Jed Yoong's exceedingly sharp memory of what didn't happen on September 16, 2008! Hahaha!

Greeting Tun,

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Tun.

I learn something lately in a cartoon movie, regarding Past, Future & Present.

Past is history, cannot change it now.
Future is a mystery, it for us to find out.
Present is now, everyday is a gift to us, so it is call PRESENT!

We all cannot remember things that happen for the past hour, unless we really wanted to do so. To remenber in details? Yes, if I have a DV recorder, ha!

Good health, Tun. Looking forward to your open house.

By 8007 on October 2, 2008 11:54 PM
Salam aidilfitri TUN,

looking forward to your open house on the 5th i think....
Talking about memory....i still remember when i was studying in the secondary school i try to learn about Malaysian politics.....it all because of one person Anwar Ibrahim..people says he a very good speaker...smart and always says the truth. He also then the Education Minister...introducing KBSR and KBSM the system which i grew up with...at first i think the people was right so i listen to his speaches and interviews in the newspaper and tv. After a while i've learn malaysia and the world civilisation history...and i conclude that malaysia is very unique and conventional system cannot be use for future planning of malaysian society..we must create our own system...and the basic is the national language which then known as Bahasa Malaysia. Then this guy change the name to Bahasa Melayu which i think the start of the racial rift in Malaysia...the other race i see start see this language as the language for the malays not for them as malaysian ...but people say it is a good idea..memertabatkan bahasa melayu...thats when i decided not to support BN. Today i see the national language is english and more non malay have difficulties to speak in BM which is weird it should be otherwise. i know then until this guy in BN i will not support BN......until you kick him out (1997/8) i thought at last somebody sees the true him. Its late but better late than never. Now he try to be PM again...my worries come back....making thing worst the current leader are to weak and short of ideas to fight him...i think you are the only one can do this(respect and reputation)....and i think u must, for the sake of all of us the future...Malaysia with Malaysian (future) not the Malaysia with Chinese, Indian & Malays.(pre-independant)

Selamat Hari Raya Tun and family,

It seems that my earlier posting is blocked so here I go again.
Your post this time is very subtle, it makes me ponder your actual intent. Again you are three, four steps ahead of everybody and I am left guessing of your hidden motif.
I heard somewhere that when we aged, the number of our brain cells don't rejuvenate thus we have to make do doing our usual things with whatever brain cells we have. That forces our brain cells to work harder and thus our brain learns to prioritize, select more important events to remember while removing the less trivial matters. That makes it easier for the brain to function otherwise our brain will be jammed with excessive redundant information or "hang" much like a computer. Oh sorry Tun, forgot that you are a doctor.
Well I guess I am in the same boat as you are and my wife remembers all the birthday dates, anniversaries, phone numbers, bills, anything that has to do with numbers she'll blurt it out promptly. Man and woman are special in their own ways.

Tun, I wish you all the best and do keep on writing to keep us all informed and inspired. Selamat Hari Raya and my best regards to you and your family and most of all, take care Tun.

Sir, you are the best.

Dear Tun,

'Selamat Hari Raya to you and family'

Forget and remember.
Tun selalu 'ingat' sindir DSAI dalam tulisan. DSAI 'lupa' tentang Tun dia tak sebut sebut pun. Dua dua ini bukan perbuatan orang dah tua ingatan semput.Ingat dan lupa are 'conscious' actions - perbuatan sengaja. We determine which things to remember and which to forget.

Lagi nak salahkan ..

We don't expect 'total recall' from Tun but 'TOTAL LOSS???' Ingatan Tun masih kental kalau hari kedua raya 'guns blazing'.

By samuraimelayu on October 3, 2008 1:29 AM
SALAM AYAHANDA RAKYAT TUN,
IZINKAN,

5. But with age our memory fails on details. Some brilliant people can remember what they did on a particular day 10 - 15 years ago, remember every detail, including the words they had spoken and the people they met etc. I am not among these people. I remember some events in which I was involved but only vaguely.
...
MAY WE JOIN THE CLUB.
BUT WE BELIEVE AYAHANDA WILL NEVER FORGET ALL THE BASICS AND BASIS OF KNOWLEDGES SINCE ATTAINED AND THE FOUNDATIONS OF WAWASAN 2020 FOR A DEVELOPED MALAYSIA.

WE HAVE THIS TO PONDER
WHAT'S HAS BEEN 'ACQUIRED' VIA THE BRAINS MAYBE 'FORGOTTEN' BUT
WHAT HAS BEEN 'PROGRAMMED' IN THE SOUL WILL BE 'STORED' IN THE MEMORY PERMANENTLY.

'ZERO' TO THE POWER OF INFINITY!

ALFATIHAH, AMIN

I REMEMBER I REMEMBER I REMEMBER...........
The day was 1982 at UKM (Univwersiti Kebvangsaan Malaysia). I was one of the representative from JB travelling with a group of 2 buses just to attending the big gathering. We were all school students that day.
That time was the general meeting of GPMS and u Tun as the advisor of GPMS or Penaung...came down and give a speech and also we had this big picture taken and I was standing just 2 role behind you. I DO REMMEMBER...when you walk out the hall after your speech..i got to SHAKE YOPUR HAND..and i said to my self ..GOSH YOUR HAND WAS SO SOFT ...REALLY SOFT.....
and that was the first and the last I saw you "live" with my bare eyes..and I dream of meeting you again and taking picture with you.
But since you dont like ppl just going to your office for a picture taken...I think I wont get a chance to take picture with you.
But I wont give up my ambition......Maybe I got that chance one day.
anyway...I remember you...coz that day was very special to me to remembered.......and nobody can take the memory away from me..and let it be with me till i died.....
Tun I love you..and your soft hands still there for me to remembered.

Your article is simply an excellent read! Does your wife know whatever you have written?! I believe so! On the 2nd day of Raya and you are at it....!

However, with a sad note let me tell you this....I personally feel, call it my gut feeling or whatever, that during your last years as Prime Minister of Malaysia, there were people who used and abused the connections they had with you resulting in your present predicament!!! All I will say to these people is this - PAYBACK TIME IS JUST ROUND THE CORNER SO PLEASE FASTEN YOUR SEAT BELT LEAST THEY GET BLOWN INTO OBLIVION!!!

I believe you must have heard about JBJ's (J B Jeyaratnam) passing...appreciate your views/comments about him, if any? I was given to understand that some prominent Malaysian personalities were present at the wake!

Tun,

Selamat Hari Raya to you, your wife and your family.

I am deeply feel proud of Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah, as you are being as Prime Minister for 22 years, I never see any advertisement about Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah. She is one of the person who doesn't like to show off and contributed a lot to the nation and world.

Unlike the AAB new wife, Endon who like to show off of herself everywhere and put her picture in advertisement including bus advertisement. Yet, she is wasting all our public money to advertise herself AND/OR with AAB.

Who really care about her, to be honest? Everyone know who's the best!

Assalamualaikum WRT,

Dear Tun,

There are so many other crimes to cite as example but why sodomy? Asking a sodomy victim to memorize every details is nothing but an attempt to mock at the law. Or perhaps a little insensitive to the victims of real sodomy. No courts of law will require a traumatized victim to have to have a photographic memory of everything surrounding such attack. In fact, if someone could recollect everything, it must a trumped up sodomy, at least in the Malaysian context.

By wari66 on October 3, 2008 5:20 AM

Heard of Anwar doing sodomy since school,university... continuously...
Anybody bold enough who can confirm?(especially the partners...heh!

SALAM,

Seorang perokok tegar mampu menghentikan tabiat nya.
Seorg yang gemuk mampu kembali kurus.

Mengapa begitu?

Maaf jika saya tersilap tolong betulkan
Haha
Selamat Hari Raya Tun sekeluarga.

Dear Tun,

Here are somethings for you to ponder about the so-called lawyers:

A lawyer is cross-examining a doctor on the stand about whether or not he had checked the pulse of the deceased before he signed the death certificate.

"No," the doctor said, "I did not check his pulse."

"And did you listen for a heartbeat?" said the lawyer.

"No, I did not," said the doctor.

"So," said the lawyer, "when you signed the death certificate, you forgot to take steps to make sure he was dead. Then, I shall assume that you are a forgetful doctor for not following proper procedure to sign the death certificate."

The doctor then replied, "Well, let me put it this way. The man's brain was in a jar on my desk, but for all I know he could be out practicing law somewhere."

By ilovetunforever on October 3, 2008 6:11 AM
Dear Tun,

Here are some of the questions and answers that we can expect to hear in court:

Q: What is your date of birth?
A: July fifteenth.
Q: What year?
A: Every year.

Q: This myasthenia gravis-does it affect your memory at all?
A: Yes.
Q: And in what ways does it affect your memory?
A: I forget.
Q: You forget. Can you give us an example of something that you've forgotten?

Q: How old is your son-the one living with you?
A: Thirty-eight or thirty-five, I can't remember which.
Q: How long has he lived with you?
A: Forty-five years.

Q: What was the first thing your husband said to you when he woke that morning?
A: He said, "where am I Sai?"
Q: And why did that upset you?
A: My name is Jijah.

Q: Now doctor, isn't it true that when a person dies in his sleep, he doesn't know about it until the next morning?

Q: Were you present when your picture was taken?

Q: How many times have you committed suicide?

Q: She had three children, right?
A: Yes.
Q: How many were boys?
A: None.
Q: Were there any girls?

Q: Can you describe the individual?
A: He was about medium height and had a beard.
Q: Was this a male or a female?

Q: Doctor, how many autopsies have you performed on dead people?
A: All my autopsies are performed on dead people.

Q: Do you recall the time that you examined the body?
A: The autopsy started around 8:30 p.m.
Q: And Mr. Dennington was dead at the time?
A: No, he was sitting on the table wondering why I was doing an autopsy.

Please keep on smiling Tun.... I am very confident that the lawyers will good answers from you like above.

YAB Tun,

Law and the lawyers in Malaysia...hmmm, let me think...if my memory have not failed me I am recalling these names (the moment my eyes registered the word lawyers somewhere in my brain neurons or whatever).... Zaid Ibrahim, Karpal Singh, Gobind Deo Karpal Singh, all the judges who took the so called ex-gratia payments...

AND all I managed to utter is " sigggghhhhh...."

I am sorry Tun, but your predecessor have ruined many things for the sake of his own and his family progress. I guess he will defend himself later with a very lame answer like, " I wanted to be a good father".

I pray he will step down soon. Even March next year is too long in my opinion. Why? ...Well, frankly you cannot trust whatever the guy commits... he discontinued ongoing major projects despite assuring you he will not, he said he will bring transparency but look at how he handles his son in law and sons involvement ? He said he wants to reform the judiciary...instead he reformed by paying them money to support him and condemn a past PM i,e you. He said all the petrol price will remain but instead it went up and up then down and down. He said he wants to manage the budget deficit, but now he lets inflation runs loose. He said everyone is free to talk in UMNO, but he denied you your right by allowing money politics.

He said he will leave in 2010 and now postponed the party election to March 2009. Everyone assume he will leave by March, but be mindful, he did not say anything about leaving by then....

So...conclusion, this guy cannot be trusted. And note, thats only talking about him...not his Son In Law yet....

Dear Tun,

The capacity or the lack of to remember and forget is a gift from God which we human always late or forget to appreciate. As you said the inability to remember details can be fatal to you and The gift to remember details can be fatal to you. I believe it goes both ways. Can you imagine if you can remember every details of the not so good things that happen to you? I think you can go crazy. I am so grateful of my current state of memory capability. It's pretty balance because I'm still a sane human being. Of course your spouse can get upset at times when you can't remember special dates, events etc but I guess that's OK because that is what make married life interesting getting into small argument with your spouse.

Your message today has got double meaning as always. Whatever it is I believe the truth will prevail eventually.

Selamat Hari Raya Tun.

YAB Tun,

I have a question, that I sincerely hope you can reply despite your extremely limited time available.

I am a Kedahan Tun and I have this idea on ways that the Kedah state can effectively eliminate poverty in the state and develop the state aggressively.

I have the chance to present this idea to the PAS state Govt now...and if they are willing to listen, God willing this idea of mine will work.

My dilemma is...in my heart I wish I can deal with UMNO but reality showed me that UMNO are largely a group of spoiled brats who are out to be rich for themselves and themselves alone , forever. With due respect to Datuk Mukhriz, I am sure he have his plate full with the woes of the party now and the hopes of his supporter on him.

I personally have longed to see my state developed in such a way that I can be proud of it, and I have always believed that Kedah can achieve zero poverty in a very short time if only the leaders are sincere and committed.

For the few of your mistakes and flaws dear Tun, you have not failed the country or its people and thats why most of the rakyat still love and adore you for what you have done and continue to do for the people.

You have not failed UMNO too, but now the reality is UMNO have failed you and in turn fail us all who have laid our hopes and aspiration on UMNO.

I want to see change, and I cannot wait anymore...and the way I see it, if I have to deal and work with PAS, I do not see a logical reason why I should hesitate...

But I had to ask your opinion, because my heart still hope for UMNO despite it is fading extremely fast

Dear Tun Dr M,

Selamat Hari Raya.....

If my memory serves me correct..........

In 2004, you admitted you have chosen the wrong person to lead the country. You are to be commended for admitting such a mistake.During your time as the PM, everyone can walk safely outside of their home day or night without any fear of criminal activities but everything changed in 2004.

During the tenure of the current government, snatch thief crime happened day and night at the cost of the people security. The victim is the people like me who walked along the road falling victim to snatch thief.

I don't think everyone can afford a car and as such they have to walk to get the public transport. Snatch thief took this as an opportunity for them.Unfortunately the current government doesn't seems to realise this because his family have the luxury of bodyguards and drivers to fetch them around so they won't become victim of snatch thief.

Oh how I miss those good times when I can walk around everywhere without any fear!

Like you say there is going to be a turbulence in the economic situation in Malaysia, but unfortunately the current government doesn't seems to do anything to fix the problem.I am working in the equity dealing industry which is one of the victim of the current economic problems.

The people who suffered most are the average people on the street as they lost their job due to economy slowdown and things are getting more expensive. The leader of current government would not feel this as they have the luxury of everything.

Thank you for leading the country out of economic turmoil like you did last time. It was because of you, the country become what it is today.

Assalamualaikum WRT,
saya pernah terbaca satu fakta.. kebanyakan saintis terkemuka mempunyai masaalah mengingati sesuatu perkara.. contohnya.. terlupa dimanakah ia meletak pen nya..
mungkin Tun salah seorang darinya..
Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Fitri buat Tun Dan sekeluarga..

See, I forgot too!

Tun, I am not sure at all even when I am close up to both you and Tun Dr Siti Hasmah if both of you could feel the pride I have deep within my heart. Pride of being a Malaysian, and being a friend (I hope).

I am positively certain that the great lady has heard how much one of her late younger brother resembled her - humble and big at heart! I could never find the words to impress upon her that she never failed to remind me of his presence in our lives. He was a great man - as Tun Dr Siti Hasmah is a great lady.

Both of you means lots, lots to us as Malaysians. Our good karma that we have you both in our world, as our PM and 1st Lady. Not often can a couple be so dear, so great! If I "shy away" when Tun Siti Hasmah is nearby, guess why? I think I worry she does not think much of me...but, surely I am wrong. No?

Tun Mahathir, and Tun 1st Lady, my prayers with you both always!

SALAM,

Seorang perokok tegar mampu menghentikan tabiat nya.
Seorg yang gemuk mampu kembali kurus.

Mengapa begitu?

Maaf jika saya tersilap tolong betulkan
Haha
Selamat Hari Raya Tun sekeluarga.

Dearest Tun yang dikasehi, Hope Tun sekeluarga had a wonderful Raya filled with joy, laughter, love and keimanan. I think Tun that in your case, it's like the labour law i.e. you are guilty until found innocent. So, dont waste your time dengan commission tu and the hands that pulled the strings of the commission. Tun, we know you are the best, we trust you, we thank you from the bottom of our heart and we love you. I hope you enjoyed the Raya card by my nine yr old daughter, Shafiqah.

Assalamualaikum ayahanda Tun Mahathir. Terima kasih.

Analisis Pemilihan UMNO.

Ramai tahu bahawa Anwar masih lagi belum menjadi ahli PKR.

Allah knows it is part of human weakness because He created us. That is the reason why we have the Angels of Rakib and the Angels of A'tid obediently sitting next to us every single second recording our daily activities without leaving out any single act. The proving of guilty of wrong doings or claiming of innocence is not bestowed on the way of the interrogation process but rather on the real evidence.Any worldly court of law can never live up to that standard. That is the reason why we have culprits running loose and the innocent people got vindicted via court or media.

This is just a humble suggestion to you and I know you may have done it already. Do a lot of Solat Hajat Tun and may Allah show the truth at the end. Stay strong and stay healthy I guess you might need them when they start interrogate you.

There are many of us still with you. After all we are all human beings.

Dear Doctor,
Selamat Hary Raya. We've all heard of your excellent memory and how you have been an ardent fan of Tony Buzan and his memory enhancement techniques.
I think the victim of this sodomy case should well be able to remember the color of the room and other broad details of the crime scene. The poor victim would have such bad memory that he got himself examined for sodomy even when he wasn't sodomized (as attested by the doctor who examined him).
So, if he can't remember any of the details, we'd totally understand. Maybe you should have enrolled this victim into a Tony Buzan seminar and coached him a little so he could have remembered.

Just stop this rubbish. We know there was no sodomy and therefore nothing to remember.

God bless you,
Mikey

salam tun,

Regards,
Lim

Dear Tun,

While everybody is still celebrating and enjoying Hari Raya Aidilfitri I presumed you should do the same instead of writing this article on the 2nd day of the Hari Raya.

Tun, sometimes we have to relax ourselves especially on this special occassion. No matter what would happen and take place forthcoming let the God justifies it as we are innocent. Unless we are guilty of being wrong doing to certain issues. It is just matter of time when the God will punish those who have done wrong.

Selamat Hari Raya.

The faintest waft is sometimes enough to induce feelings of hunger or anticipation, or to transport you back through time and space to a long-forgotten moment in your childhood. It can overwhelm you in an instant or simply tease you, creeping into your consciousness slowly and evaporating almost the moment it is detected. ~Stephen Lacey, Scent in Your Garden, 1991

Salam Ayahanda Tun,

I am no doctor and not a practicing lawyer. Nevertheless based on Tun’s vast familiarity, I would like to bring Tun’s observation on these issues:

1.Is a defendant with multiple personalities sane or insane in the eyes of the law?

2.What if one of their personalities meets the state's definition of insanity, but the rest do not?

3.If a witness or defendant is found to have multiple personalities, whether consciously or un-consciously, which personalities should testify?

4.Should each be sworn in separately, or does that lend credence to the irrelevancies of outdated laws and its legal authority on such a case?

5.How could justice be served without inflicting any manner of punishment on the non-guilty character/personality?

6.Is the legal system competent enough to handle this sort of disputes? Or would it just pass the predicament and let the psychiatrists work things out?

7.In which case, would justice still be served on the aggrieved party?

A person with multiple or spilt personality disorders may even pass the lie detector test. For the reason that to - his/her/they - best knowledge, no such crime was committed, and to some extent, they may be correct in believing so. Included in the link below is the synopsis of THE STRANGE CASE OF DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE (1886), by the author Robert Louis Stevenson. It makes for an interesting read.

Bak kata Tun, "So please try to memorise everything you do every day. Don't forget the details. It can be fatal for you."

Ikhlas,

Salam Aidilfitri Tun sekeluarga,
1. Kita manusia biasa, LUPA tu biasalah. Saya paling susah nak ingat nama orang dan tarikh apa2 event. Baru umo 28 dah jadi pelupa, banyak sangat makan semut agaknya.. :D
2. Saya sekeluarga pernah salam ngan Tun M & Tun Siti kat Padang Majlis Perbandaran Kangar. Masa tu sambutan Jubli Emas Pemerintahan Raja Perlis, Tun masih PM, lama dah, tak ingat dah tahun berapa..yang saya ingat ialah betapa jernihnya wajah Tun berdua & betapa gembiranya mak saya dapat bergambar ngan Tun Siti.
3. Harap2 jangan la saya terlibat dengan apa2 kes mahkamah, susah nanti sebab banyak yang saya tak ingat.Dulu2 selalu catit dalam diari. Diari pulak kena sembunyi takut orang baca. Punyalah sembunyi sampai tak ingat dah diari tu saya sembunyi kat mana...huhu
4. Saya memang seorang pelupa tapi saya takkan lupa asal usul saya sebagai anak Melayu Malaysia.

Terima kasih Tun !

Tun has oftenly accused that some Malays seem to have short memory (mudah lupa) especially so when he has crafted the infamous NEP which has made some of them, notably the cronies very rich and wealthy.

But, alas today Tun has come out and admitted that he too seems to inherit the same handicap - poor memory. Tun's poor memory could reach its peak especially when he is subpoenaed for testimony in the open courts.

When Tun has reached the reputation as a story teller which has envied many world's leaders, it really baffles me that suddently Tun has been stumbled with poor or rather short memory.

I guess Tun's memory is sharp as ever, as gifted by the Great Almighty. Probably Tun could have lost to grasp the proper words in that split of seconds rather than exhibiting signs of poor memory.

Assalamualaikum ayahanda Tun Dr M, bonda Tun Ct Hasmah dan rakan-rakan bloggers,

Melayu mudah lupa,
Bukan melayu saja yang lupa tapi bangsa lainpun dah lupa,
Lupa asal-usul,
Lupa rupa bentuk,
Lupa di mana bumi dipijak, di situ langit patut dijunjung,
Lupa janji jadi rakyat Malaysia,

THE most important thing in our life should be "To Purify Our Mind".TO purify our mind, we need to first broaden ourselves with activities of compassion so as to gradually get rid of the self-centered habits.
TO broaden ourselves, we should FIRST FILL OUR MIND with BEAUTIFUL THOUGHTS:WE should try to make our mind like land, because land has beautiful virtues: when animals shed their excrement on land, land never express anything angrily, because it is not swayed and is completely indifferent; when humans (the rich and famous, sages and saints, or perfect people) walk over land, land feels nothing, again because it is not swayed and is completely indifferent.Land is not involved or affected by favorable or dangerous situations. Land always welcomes all kinds of situations. It will not take or give up anything, is never confused, is never swayed or attracted by anything, never starts an idea or gives up an idea, peacefully enjoys leisure and endures patiently, and is completely serene. These are some of the beautiful virtues of the land that we step on every day.IF you have no mind to all living things, then what's the harm of letting these things surround you? We really should learn the spiritual part of land and cultivate the broad and generous mind. This will help to purify our mind.
THE GOOD and THE BAD:
WHEN you face favorable situations or dangerous situations, you can still do everything without the least worry and feel comfortable and able to do anything of your own free will. When you meet somebody, perhaps the person you like the least in your life, a person who looks at you with dirty stares, do you still feel comfortable and free? As a matter of fact, in these kinds of moments, there is a fight between "The state of holiness and wisdom" and "The temptations or evil influence." If we use the worldly words it's like a fight between "The Good" and "The Bad." Becoming The Good or The Bad is all depended on our MIND.BECAUSE The Good and The Bad are decided by our mind, maybe we can put it this way: The Good and The Bad share our mind. When The Good defeats The Bad, the whole of our mind is Good. When The Bad defeats The Good, the whole of our mind is Bad. From this angle you might have an idea that The Good and The Bad are all from our mind. THE way our mind treats the situations we face creates the difference between "The state of holiness and wisdom"(The Good) and "The temptations or evil influence"(The Bad). If our mind is contaminated by situations, the mind becomes "The Bad." If our mind is not contaminated by situations, the mind becomes "The Good".
WHY BOTHER:
WHEN adverse circumstances come, just let them do what they like; when adverse circumstances go, just let them do what they like also. When fortunate circumstances come, just let them arise naturally without extra effort; when fortunate circumstances go, again just let them depart naturally without extra effort. Our mind should not be linked up with any circumstances, whether good circumstances or bad circumstances. This will help Purify Our Mind.WHEN adverse circumstances come, do not feel delighted, when adverse circumstances leave, do not feel disappointed. If the mind feels delighted or disappointed, it shows that we can not control ourselves. In this moment, our mind will have all kinds of entanglements of love, hate, desire, and possession by force. After this step, all kinds of problems will follow and never end.
THE IDEA OF the word "IMPERMANENT":
IF we observe things around us, we will find out that "None is permanent". Things, whether material or non-material, change constantly. Some of the changes are evident, some of them are not. Ever since life began, natural phenomena have been like this. From this point of view, we should understand that things always arise depending on conditions. When the appropriate conditions come together, things arise; when those conditions disperse, things cease. IF you could understand the point that Nothing is permanent, you will not keep thinking of something in your memory all the time, because it is impermanent and will eventually vanish, no matter how much you keep remembering it. In such a case, why don't we just leave it alone?IN the Universe, everything that we can see, hear, and think of all arising depending on conditions, meaning that everything is impermanent. The people we love the most or the situations we like the most will all vanish. The people we hate the most or the situations we like the least will all vanish too. Do we still want to persist in our own opinions of things that happen one minute and vanish the next in this world?
THE THOUGHTS in OUR MIND:
THERE are all kinds of thoughts in our mind: evil thoughts, greedy thoughts, and kind thoughts. These thoughts are always confused, tangled, profuse, disordered, and most of the time, we can not control them. Actions, motions, works, and even mistakes all arise from thoughts in our mind. When we put an idea of going to a place in our mind, then action will lead our body to that place. When we start an idea of going to the church, then action will bring us to that church. We will spend our entire fortune doing something because of a little thought in our mind. We will begin to be deeply attached to one thing or act on momentary impulse because of a little thought in our mind. We will offend people by our words because of a little wrong thought in our mind. We might do something offensive or harmful to society's morals because of a little evil thought in our mind.WE always maneuver for positions or benefits against rivals. We try to cause alienation between friends or relatives by spreading rumors or doing something. Does anybody know why? It is because "What one is thinking of at any given moment is often evil thoughts." THE Good and The Bad all are from our MIND. We are the masters of the mind and also are the watershed of The Good and The Bad. Mind produces all kinds of thoughts; mind is the origin of events that follow from Good thoughts and Bad thoughts. From this point of view, we all should understand how important it is to purify our mind.
TO DEAL with THOUGHTS:
IF we want to avoid disasters or calamities made by ourselves, we have to stop putting ideas in our head. The moment we stop an idea arising is called "True Awakening".THERE are all kinds of garbage in our mind. If we want to purify our mind, getting rid of the garbage in our mind might be the first thing we have to do. What is the garbage of mind? Dirty and polluted thoughts, greedy thoughts, hateful thoughts, infatuated thoughts, worried thoughts, suffering thoughts, haughty thoughts, impudent thoughts, envious thoughts, indecent thoughts, heterodox thoughts, dreary thoughts, and hollow thoughts. These can all be called garbage of the mind. Someone in history said once that one who can govern a battalion of a million soldiers is not a hero: the real hero is that person who can govern his mind. We should understand the meaning of these words. IF an evil thought arises in our mind, then more evil thoughts like water will come in torrents; nothing can ward them off. These evil thoughts will forever lead us to thinking, speaking, and acting evil. Ever since life began, the habitual temperament of human beings makes us like this. It is doubly difficult to get rid of them. WHEN we can govern our thoughts, our mind will not be affected by situations. From this, our mind can be free. This is a very hard level to reach, but the first step always is hard.FOR those who have too many friendly feelings (such as being crazy about women), if they do not control their feelings well, they will follow their thoughts and will sink into the deep sea of feelings. For those who desire wealth and honor greatly, their minds are clouded by material desires, the covetous thoughts will lead them to fame and wealth, and they will be in the bondage of reputation and wealth forever.ALWAYS keep a watch on thoughts in your mind. Try to realize or know what and where your thoughts are. As a matter of fact, according to the experienced people's idea, "Thoughts always vanish when you watch them." If we could practice like this all the time, the power of our thoughts will decrease over time. This is not a very easy level to reach, but at least we have an idea that there is a way to get rid of thoughts. LIKE we mentioned, things arise always depending on conditions: when conditions come together or gather together, things arise; when conditions disperse or dispel, things cease. [This is a doubly important notion]. When we understand this notion, we will also understand that everything in the universe is impermanent; from this point of view, it should be easy to get rid of CLINGING, and always persisting in our opinion. Always remember and practice the notion of IMPERMANENCE. This will help to purify our mind a lot.
THE ORIGINAL NATURE OF HUMAN BEING:
WE should live in a world which belongs to our real inner self or original nature of human being. This world is bright and brilliant, where there no dispute, and we are not bothered by material concerns. It is pure and peaceful, enjoying leisure and not sorrowful; but we never try to act in response to this world, we never try to be a friend of our real inner self. The only thing we do day in and day out is to try and climb up socially. This is what the Chinese call "Attending to the superficials and neglecting the essentials". WHEN our real inner self is led astray by human desires, we all know that desires are bottomless. We all will not be able to do anything of our own free will, and we become the slaves of human desires. THE power of temptation of human desires is doubly brutal. Some people always try to attain their desires with nefarious tactics. The moment we have a thought like this, the moment we lose the chance to contact our real inner self, we are going to be gone far away from purifying our mind.OUR mind will not stop producing thoughts because of human desires. Therefore, our real inner self will be clouded by material desires forevermore, and our original nature will be contaminated forevermore also.WHY does our mind always produce thoughts? Before we talk about this subject, maybe we should understand some evil ingredients in our mind. According to the experienced people's idea, " Being greedy for everything, angry at everything, and not understanding the real truth are the most common evil ingredients in our mind." THESE evil ingredients influence and poison our mind very strongly. That is the reason why our mind produces thoughts every minute of the day. And like we mentioned, "What one is thinking of at any given moment is often evil thoughts." From this, we should understand that fighting these evil thoughts is the most important thing we are going to do.
TO REDUCE THE THOUGHTS IN OUR MIND:
BESIDES what we have already mentioned, there are other ways to reduce thoughts in our mind. Here we try to introduce some of them. Hopefully this will benefit everybody who is seriously interested in this field.TRY our level best to understand that all living things in the universe are equal; otherwise, we will have a special mind which always looks at things from a dualistic perspective. For example, making a distinction between the good and the bad. And all the problems will be starting from right here, such as "Always persist our own ideas", "Always argue", "Always hate", "Always fight", …and never stop. LIKE we mentioned in the beginning, we should try to make our mind like LAND, and be tolerant of other people's mistakes, or wrongdoing or weaknesses. Try to express solicitude for everybody (Friends, enemies, good, and bad) equally. Try not to dispute or discuss in minute detail gaining or losing. Try not to be moved by sad or delighted things. Try not to feel so pleased when people respect or praise us. Try not to hate or abhor when people slight us.WHEN people show their beautiful virtues (like helping others), we should show our respect and join in their actions, and we should try not to be jealous of other people's beautiful virtues. When we see people facing troubles, we should not gloat over their disaster. ACCORDING to the experienced people's idea, "The highest wisdom comes from a merciful heart", the merciful heart comes from "Solving people's problems without any conditions and helping people to get peace, calm, and sagacity without any conditions either".IF we look at things or treat things unequally, from here, all the worry, trouble, and prejudice will be produced almost right away. Thus if we want to purify our mind, we have to learn to look at things or treat things with equality. SOMEDAY when we realize that all the beings are equal and could be blend or mix together, and become "ONE" in some way, we will understand really what is the "Real Truth".

Tun,
After reading Raja Petra Kamarudin's wife comment in today's Star newspaper I have to but agree with you that human memory can be really bad at times.

2. She had commented that RPK cannot stomach the smelly food provided in the Kamunting detention centre. Obviously she has forgotten that RPK is now in prison for the crimes he has committed. Yes, he is a criminal. A criminal does not deseve a five-star hotel treatment.

3. He used to have a good life and food but he chose to be where he is now. Please don't blame anybody for it.

4. She said "I guess they consider my husband a hardcore criminal". Blimey! Doesn't she realise it by now? He IS a hardcore criminal. He is the person who had bad agendas against certain leaders and accused them of all kinds of things. He was reminded time and again but he thought he wanted to be a hero in his own fantasy.

5. He was responsible to instigate the racial tension in the country and almost sent the whole country into a racial riot and she has the cheek to question the label of a hardcore criminal on her husband.

6. In case she has forgotten, i would like to recall how he had also angered the muslims in the country on the Prophet's issue. I guess she can't remember.

7. RPK has forgotten many things in his life. He has also forgotten the customs and culture of the country.

8. Looking at the cheerful smiling face of Marina Lee Abdullah in the Star, I guess she has also forgotten that her husband is in prison, eating smelly food.

Take care Tun, RPK and Marina Lee Abdullah

One more thing, she can keep all her original teeth in white and shining until the day she die. Brilliant!!

SALAM AYAHANDA RAKYAT TUN,
IZINKAN,
8. I am going to take a memory course. Should I have occasion to be investigated or summoned to face a trial, I would be able to remember the suit I wore any day in my life and where I was when wearing the particular suit on a particular day.

FOR A ELDERLY STATESMAN OF YOUR STATURE, WHO HAS PASSED YOUR 'COURSES' AS A KHALIFAH FOR THE UMMAH AND THE MUSLIM WORLD, A MEMORY COURSE(IF THERE'S ONE)WILL NOT BE NECESSARY.
A TRUE KHALIFAH WILL ALMOST ALL THE TIME USES THE ALMIGHTY GIFTED 'AURA' TO HIM TO 'THINK AND FEEL' FOR THE WELL BEING OF OTHERS THAT SOMETIMES HE FORGETS HIS OWN 'DETAILS'.
WE HAVE OBSERVED OVER THE YEARS, ALL THE ATTEMPTS TO 'IMPLICATE' AYAHANDA TUN HAD BACKFIRED. FOR INSTANCE,

1. PAS FAILURE TO DETHRONE THE 'MAHAFIRAUN' WITH THE MASS 'SOLAT HAJAT'
2. THE FAILURE OF THE 'REFORMS' MOVEMENT LED BY ANWAR'S HEROES AS LAUDED BY AL GORE.
3. AL GORE HIMSELF FAILED TO WIN THE USA PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.
4. GEORGE SOROS FAILURE TO 'UNDERMINE' OUR RINGGIT
5. IMF (INTERNATIONAL MOTHER AND FATHER) FAILURE TO 'DISCIPLINE' OUR ECONOMY.
AND INSTEAD, THE ALMIGHTY BLESSED AYAHANDA TUN WITH THE SUCCESS 'SHIELD' AGAINST ALL THE ODDS.

KAMI TIADA TUJUAN LAIN SELAIN MENGINGATKAN KEPADA 'MUSUH2' AYAHANDA TUN AKAN MUSIBAH2 YANG MUNGKIN DITIMPAKAN KEATAS MEREKA..NA'UZUBILLAH.

KAMI MOHON AMPUN DAN MAAF JIKA KATA HATI KAMI DIANGGAP 'UGUTAN'.

Dear Tun,
By the same token a person who had been sodomised must know the exact time of the day that it happened, the colour of the room and the size of the bed. If he fails to remember any of these things, then he must be lying

So we must have a watch with us whenever we were being sodomised.
If Saiful said i was sodomised by anwar at 3.52 pm 16 second. At 3.53pm what happen, 3.54 pm what happen. Aren't this also looks like lying as well. Haha....

What happen if there is no watch/clock......lol....

Dear Sir,

I am one of the many Malaysian working overseas.

Yesterday one of my colleague brought me over to his village for an Eidul-Fitr dinner. It was quite an eye-opener because I got the chance to meet part, of the whole tribe of his family... all congregating in this village of their origin since thousands of years. Most of them are now professionals and businessmen living in the city.

Upon hearing the word Malaysia, their eyes glowed. All of them said Malaysia is beautiful and wished visit for vacation. One even wanted to study English in KL!

However one of them, a Specialist Doctor in the Royal Military Hospital..said that his country is still learning and trying to emulate Malaysia's success. And he attributed all of this to you. One of the brothers still thinks that you are still in charge.

As human being, you have made errors and blunders. And I know the real story between you and DSAI.

But lifting us Malaysians..to the eyes of the world is a priceless contribution! Certainly your Autobiography will make a best-seller..and I guarantee that it will be translated to numerous languages.

Admittedly, I am one of the young people who would like to see change and we are being very open minded..even to vote for the opposition. This is also, an indirect result of your school of thought during your time in office...to 'Think Outside The Box'.... Malaysians are successful internationally because of this.

I bet that if you are still young..you would have acted the same.

Anyway, keep on writing and inspiring. Don't go back into politics. Be Independent. May I suggest that you set up branches of the Perdana Foundation in other countries. Your thoughts and thinking are still, highly sought after by the world.

Thanks Very Much, sir.

Selamat Hari Raya to all Malaysians.

If Pak Lah is Leaving, Why is a 'Level Four Boys' Still in Command?

Contributed by cucuwaktelu on Friday, October 03 @ 11:50:40 MYT
Topic: KOMENTAR

It seems now at the juncture of Pak Lah's political demise, the 'Level Four Boys' already got their hands into his successor.

Recently, when Pak Lah announced the mini Cabinet reshuffle, DPM Dato' Seri Najib was given the highly strategic and sensitive but powerful Finance portfolio. However, it seems the job was given with the 'Level Four Boys' tentacles attached to it and with great power to help DPM Najib decide.

Omar Ong, the Managing Director of Ethos and Company, came back instantly when DPM Najib was announced.

He was seen in several meetings involving Ministry of Finance and his capacity as Managing Director of Ethos Consulting is but a mere disguise. Words are he will be appointed as Political Secretary to the Minister of Finance.

Omar Ong was DPM Najib's Special Function Officer when the latter was appointed Deputy Prime Minister four and half years ago, leaving his highly lucrative job as a partner to Dr Liew Boon-Horng. Omar was the strategist in DPM Najib's office.

Then, the most horrid tragedy struck. Dr. Liew died in a freak accident when his BMW was crushed by a fallen concrete slab in Plaza Damas which instanteously brought Omar back into the Ethos and Co chair. Many close to DPM Najib expressed relief when Omar left.

For DPM Najib, it was god-sent. He has since been barraged with negative complains and feedbacks on Omar from his supporters and sympathisers within the corporate world and political grassroot. Omar's manouveour in-cohoot with Khairy documented in Raja Petra's Khairy Chronicle was verifiable by many.

Why the change of heart?

Read further Omar Ong's hand in the destruction of national institutions, and his 'Level Four Boys Link' in the blog Another Brick in the Wall

Dear Malaysian readers,

We are from the Wayangparty club (blog) Singapore (www.wayangparty.wordpress.com)

Due to the sudden demise of our opposition icon and hero, Mr J.B. Jeyaretnam, we have not been blogging about Malaysian current affairs lately. We will publish a series of commentaries on Malaysian politics next week after the funeral of Mr Jeyaretnam this Saturday.

The first in line will be Roundtable discussion on a speech given by Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew which was published in The Straits Times Review on 29 September 2008.

In the article titled “The centre must hold“, Singapore’s Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew told an international audience comprising 200 diplomats and academics at the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London that Singapore was able to have a stable, peaceful society largely because of his policy of treating every race equally.

He next cite the example of Malaysia as having a divided society now because of a race-based education system catering to the needs of individual races instead of a unified system in Singapore where all Singaporeans attend national schools together from the primary to tertiary level irregardless of race and religion.

This is what MM Lee said:

“We also got everybody mixed up in the (housing estates), no longer in enclaves. Every constituency has its quota of the less successful. Everybody has the same chances in education and we choose a neutral language - English.

Malaysia threw out English and went with Malay. The Chinese and the Indians decided to have their own schools. Now they have got a divided society.”

We have invited 3 Singaporeans and a Malaysian to share with us what they think of MM Lee’s remarks.

We hope to seek the opinions from our brothers across the causeway on the following two questions:

1. Do you agree with MM Lee that Malaysia society is divided now as a result of its education system ?

2. What will Malaysians think of MM Lee’s rather sharp critcism of their country ?

This discussion will be published on our blog next Monday on the 6 October 2008.

Please email your opinion, name and blog link to: wayangparty@hotmail.com

In reference to the comment by Tom on October 2, 2008 10:54 PM
I am also a simple chinese guy who makes a living through hard work. I am not a member of any political parties and I do not harbor any ill thoughts about how others enrich themselves. And I certainly do not see the relevance in your comment about Tun and his son. In due respect, since you claimed you are a grassroot member of MCA..I would suggest you kindly take a back seat and have a good look around in your own backyard on your comment. Why is there a need for such undesirable feelings? In all honesty, what’s the real rationale thinking behind a person to be a member of any political party..regardless of grassroots level or otherwise. If memory serves me correctly, from what it appears and for some, it is not because for the love of the party BUT only to look for opportunities to enrich oneself. In a simple layman’s language..CARI MAKAN lah. Regrettably, being a hypocrite..I am sure one would live by his denial.

Since it’s Hari Raya Festive, I apologise to Tun for my outspokeness. I am not the least bias of any one nor am I a defender of any political parties or human kind. I reap what I sow and I am a advocate of RESPECT. So, lets live and let live.
Tun, you are doing fine..and thank you for writing and for sharing your thoughts with us.
God Bless. Syabas.

Tun,

1. Selamat hari raya;

2. Some people pretend to forget to avoid any legal action takne on them;

3. Current leaders of the country "forget a lot" when dealing with you. They forget that you are the one who put them there;

4. Some time when "we forget all the time" - we are actually "nyanyuk";

5. I will make it a point to remember every single details of what I do/did from now on (some time the wife can be very difficult if we forget certain thing)...

Tun yang saya kagumi,

A'kum wbt...

"Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri"

Wasalam.

Dear Tun,

Dont worry to much about memory, at your age you are fantastic that you're still bless with good health, I'm 50 and I too had problems with not just memory, I have seen and met man and woman of younger age than you but older than me,they too had problems some are horrible, the different may be they dont have to go court to tell the court of the past, but if you dont remember just say so (n0 big deal) if it doesnt work your way you can try to recall insyaallah you will remember. Even judges are no different. But more important it is Allah the creator we should always be grateful to him all the time ,it is him that give us everything including memory.I dont think you should take up any courses to enhance your memory. I suggest you read Quran and try to memorise insyaallah that help.I guest that is why on the judgement day (akhirat) all part of our body will be the withness before the Almighty Allah.Wallahualam.

Dear Tun,

I guess you can still remember the 70s and 80s when you and Anwar created the roots of today Malaysia Problems.

Your new economic policy has discriminate against other Malaysia citizen. You have asked Malays to have a big family so that Unmo can have the ultimate control of the politics.

Now the dependency of the UNMO members as revoke! So many waste and the country is still way behind in term of standard of living and our place in the world stage even though the country has much resouces yet we still owe so much debts....

So, I challenge to rid the unjust law that treat other citizens...and have open policy to recruit professional from around the world...and rebuild the country so that it can be respected in teh world....We are part of the commonwealth country yet many other commonwealth country has started to request visa in order for Malaysia to travel..We need to re-gains out respect.

I can remember details of our accident of 24years ago at the Bangsar trafic light. It was 230am coming home after celebrating my late father's birthday. Such a quiet and lonely morning, while patiently waiting for the light to turn green (there were no cars in sight, even on both other lanes), suddenly, a drunk driver rammed our car fropm behind.

What I do remember clearly todate, was the advise given to me "do nOt mention in your police report that the said crasher was a drunk driver". When I enquired WHY? The reply was, nanti you pula susah nak dapat CLAIM..

I do agree that not everyone has a good memory, I am always forgetful, forgetting important dates that I should not forget.

Yet there are things that we do not forget or are easily forgotten, events that can be impeded in our minds; like our childhood memories though it may be vague but yet we retain the major portion of its memory.

I do know that sometimes we have this auto suggestive signal that can help us to recall or forget an incident. I am no Psychoanalysis but this is common with all of us.

I am as I said a very forgetful person but I can remember the scene and the last words spoken by my father at his deathbed. I can vividly remember the incident which took place in 1969 which was the black chapter in the history of our nation.

In western nations there is one way of getting a person to recall their memory and that is through hypnotism but I believe it is not commonly used in the Court of Law.

The thing that comes to mind is how in the west the Police use a Polygraph to ascertain whether a person is lying or not. It seems when someone is lying under polygraph the machine is able to monitor the erratic pattern in breathing, pulse etc. of such person. What I am trying to point out here about memory is that when we are lying our heart is able to verify it.

I hope your article is not used by some smart alec lawyer as a reference to prove in the Court of law that his or her client is unable to recall the event or incident in question.

Good day.

By God's creation on October 3, 2008 10:12 PM

That is the side effect of general anaesthesia. Adding to that is the age factor. That is why we have to exercise our thinking power everyday so that it will reduce the rate of forgetfulness. But coming back to whatever issue, forgetfulness can be just one of the excuses meant to hide the truth. However, genuine forgetfulness can be accepted. If the problem is that serious, the authority can suggest the use of a lie detector machine. Or the controversial, no privacy DNA testing. Yes. There are a lot of forgetfulness going on and even coming from the top. Simple ways of keeping record. Just jot down important points in a small book. By the way, romance spices up a marriage.

Yang mulia Tun dan isteri,
Selamat hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri...
Maaf Zahir Batin..

Selamat Hari Raya AidilFitri sekali lagi

Saya pun makin jadi pelupa, kalau nak ingat perkara-perkara penting kena tulis banyak kali, baru senang nak ingat. Tapi tak hairanlah kalau Ayahanda Tun dah makin tak berapa ingat sebab Ayahanda Tun dah tua. Is there anything going to happen after RAYA?

Ayahanda Tun Sekeluarga, assalamualaikum ............

Paling kurang sekali seminggu. Bukan semua rakyat Malaysia yang celik IT.

""By the same token a person who had been sodomised must know the exact time of the day that it happened, the colour of the room and the size of the bed. If he fails to remember any of these things, then he must be lying.""

The moral of your story is "Don't get sodomised unless you can remember the details." However, some people got a kick out of being sodomised, by a DPM, at that.

EAT YOUR WORDS, USA!

Salam Aidilfitri Tun,

I have been reading your blog for some time and this is the first time I am leaving a comment..
Because I actually Laughed-Out-Loud (its knows as "LOL" for the general cyber people in case you haven't know) at your sarcasm! It's actually good to know that a former premier are actually just like every other people whereby you can also release your dissatisfaction and frustration by using sarcasms. Cool, in a way.

Take care.

So every damn thing we say, we do and we see will be recorded down and downloaded for backup on computers! so no more lying, no more wrongfully judging etc... but no one would want that either! so i tell u this, theres just no perfect system in this world, its a dream!

Assalamualaikum Tun,

Just read Tun's posting, folks, and enjoy the sentiments written as another piece of his mind. All of us can comment to our heart's content, in the way and using the words we are brought up with. Much as we would like other people to respect our opinion, respect Tun's. That's why we bother to visit this website in the first place. Our little individual opinion isn't going to change the world.
Selamat Hari Raya, Tun. Keep on blogging.

Dear Tun,

short but extremely FUNNY!!
I dont even remember what I ate for dinner 2 nights ago,
but I can remember that Malaysia have only 4 prime ministers,
Tunku, Tun Razak, Tun Hussein Onn and the best Tun Dr M.
Not sure if I left anyone one out form the list. I cannot remember!

Cheers

Beloved Tun,

You are not alone, Tun, in having memory problems.

Yaacob (my husband) is 13 years younger than you, Tun, and his memory is, I think, worse than yours. On one occasion, he gave me a birthday card instead of one denoting our wedding anniversary. On another occasion, he met two adult girls who wished him “assalamualaikum Tok Cob” and kissed his hand and cheek whilst he was shopping with Suffian, one of our two sons, at the KLCC. Except for replying “waalaikumussalam”, he just could not recollect who they were – until Suffian told him that the girls were his cousins i.e. Yaacob’s elder brother’s grand-daughters!

You mentioned, Tun, that you were going to take a memory course. I would persuade Yaacob to do the same.

But the persons, I think, who, more than the two of you, need to seriously consider undergoing such a course would be some of your former Cabinet colleagues.

For 22 years they were your faithful comrade at arms in your struggle to put Malaysia on the world map. They were always defensive of your actions and ever so polite in their demeanour towards you. But now that you are no longer their chief, their true colours are beginning to show. In their public utterances about you, they seem to have thrown to the dogs even some basic expectations of good manners like, for example, being courteous to the elders. Alas, they have forgotten what gratitude is all about.

A memory course for your ex-colleagues would not only improve their memory but, I hope, would also inculcate into their heads some basic precepts of good comportment, including an appreciation of that famous quote:”Blessed are those who can give without remembering, and take without forgetting”.

SELAMAT HARI RAYA to you, Tun and to Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah and the rest of your wonderful family as well.

With much affection,

Tunku Sofiah Jewa

this might not be related to this post, but i just had an urge to point this out. i read this on thestar today.

---
KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi should not be pressured to quit as Prime Minister despite his flaws, says DAP chairman Karpal Singh.

He said he preferred having Abdullah as the Prime Minister than his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as the country would experience another “Mahathir era” under Najib.

“Najib was once Dr Mahathir’s (former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s) blue-eyed boy. It is bound to happen.

“Umno should not write off Abdullah as he received the people’s majority.

“It is not fair to pressure him to step down. It is not in our culture to pressure anyone into submission,” he said yesterday.

Karpal Singh denied he wanted Abdullah to remain in power instead of Najib to make it easier for the Opposition to make their move, saying, “our chances are not slimmer under Najib.”
---

i'm not so concerned with the issue of forcing people to quit, i'm more concerned with him saying that "Umno should not write off Abdullah as he received the people's majority"... the people's majority. and yet they are trying to topple the government with defecting MPs. this just doesn't smell right.

Dearest Tun,

Well said!

1. I believe Tun has much better memory compared to most people here even though Tun is much older. Furthermore, we are human beings, not robot, and it is impossible for us to remember every detail of events happening 10, 15, 20 years ago…

2. Majority of women are good in remembering events related to emotion, while men are good in logic thinking. It has got something to do with our left brain and right brain – which one is more dominant in ones brain…but of course there are exceptions. There are also women who are good in logic thinking, and can’t remember birth dates, and etc. Some people are good in both areas.

3. And it is also so ridiculous to expect a former PM to remember details of every event that happened throughout his 22 years of premiership. May be the lawyers should first test their own memory before asking people all kinds of ridiculous questions.

May Allah SWT bless Tun and family.

Salam alaikum Tun and bloggers.

We all have problem with memory, I can not remember when I started relying on "Computer Memory" to aid me.

Recapping:
9. By the same token a person who had been sodomised must know the exact time of the day that it happened, the colour of the room and the size of the bed. If he fails to remember any of these things, then he must be lying.

My Remark is:
The question is not whether he is lying, but if his story is worthy of consideration for prosecution. If the evidence can not materialise as happened; then it should not be used as evidence, as such would have potential of being false evidence.

But truth is, my understanding in Law is far too undeveloped to make anything of the such more than just an illustrative logical understanding (something like common sense). I put my faith in the court of justice in Malaysia as I have no choice; and hope that truth and correctness will prevail.

Dear YAB Tun Dr.M,
How are you sir? Hope everything is well there and I'm sure you and Tun Dr.Siti Hasmah have enjoyed the Hari Raya with your childern and grand childre and other family members...

To emville,
Your comment...Apa apa pun, tak pernah terjadi dlm sejarah Malaysia, open house org kenamaan dicemari dgn rusuhan. Yes, I'm talking about Hindraf making sort of trouble at Pak Lah's open house at PWTC. Itu lah harganya klu semua nak diberi muka. Semua atas alasan demokrasi. Sampai nak berdemonstrasi pun dah tak kena tempat"

Emville,
I'm not sure if you are a married man or woman....if you are a married person and you have small children then you know the feeling the pain of the children and parents being seperated under the so call this "ISA"... These people have this pain and that is why they went peacefully to the PM open house to plea for the release of their loved ones....Base on your comment above, I'm sure you a true believer in GOD....i don't have to judge you for above comment...Let GOD decides your faith on your comment.

SALAM AIDIL FITRI BUAT TUN SEKELUARGA.

TUN,

HIDUP TUN HIDUP MELAYU.

Wassalam TUN

By Syed Akbar Ali on October 4, 2008 5:33 PM
Dear Tun,

My lawyer friends tell me that in sexual offenses (rape, sodomy etc) the victims may not always remember the exact time and place they were raped. This is especially the case where the victims are very young or were too traumatised to recall the event in all its detail.

For example the 'sumbang mahram' cases where a father or brother has been sexually molesting the victim over a period of months or years can fall into this category. The victim can hardly recall the exact time they were raped other than saying 'last month', 'last year before bulan puasa' or things like that.

In cases where the victims were raped outside (in rubber estates, lonely roads, in the park, in abandoned buildings etc) the victims may not even recall the exact place. Girls who have been drugged and then raped somewhere may not recall where they were taken.

However for a long time, the Courts did not consider the absence of the 'exact time' of the sexual offense as fatal to the prosecution of such cases. The lawyers will confirm that we have had many succesful prosecutions of sexual offenses in Malaysia even when the victim could not recall the exact time or exact location where the offenses happened.

But now this situation has changed after that 'particular' verdict was overturned in the case involving you know who. One of the reasons stated by the Court in dismissing that particular case was the absence of the exact time the offense was alleged to have been committed. I believe this is also the gist of your comments here.

I believe that since this ruling by the Court, some other rape cases also got dismissed based on the same argument. I recall that a lawyer (who is now an MP and son of another lawyer and MP) did use this angle and quoted the Court ruling in that 'particular' case as legal precedent to support his defense. He argued that there was no evidence available as to the exact time his client had committed the sexual offense.

This places greater pressure on the Police and the Prosecution in preparing evidence and prosecution of such cases. But as a layman I also feel that it has made things a tad easier for sexual offenders to get off the hook. It becomes that much more difficult to convict such cases in the absence of the 'exact time'.
